Once upon a time, the spirits of a voice inhabited two clockwork automata. And thus, Ode and Aubade were born. But then, where did those spirits come from? What were they before?Somewhere in the invisible realm just beyond what can be glimpsed through glass, one silent, shapeless voice struggled to manifest itself into something real. Weak, alone, and unable to sustain itself, it fragmented.Yet, it didn't disappear. Though unseen, unheard, unknown, and in pieces in an unreachable space, the voice drifted on, following the sound of a sweet, golden song. If one piece grew weary, the other pulled it along, and if one could no longer hear, the other guided it until it could again. Like a wad of frayed, knotted threads at the mercy of a passing breeze, it tumbled along. On and on, until a pair of beautiful, hollow dolls stood before them, cold and still as death. The golden song was distant yet, but they began to wonder as they looked upon the metal keys protruding from the dolls' necks if they, too, could create a beautiful song that resounds even in lonely places. So they reached forward to wind the keys, to let the music play.... Of course, this could all just be another fairytale. After all, it omits the Screecher completely!
